18mm socket
1/2" Drive Ratchets
12" Ratchet Drive Extension

Pry bar, possible drill bits(I'll exlain later)

Step#1 unplug the fog lamps(if your jeep equipted)
If you can at this point, gently pry the wireharness tie downs up.

Should be 4 points attached to the bumper.



Step#2 Unscrew air damn support, one screw on each end.(also see pic#1)



Step#3 unscrew fron of air damn, its screws into the bottom of the bumper


Step#4, throw that piece of crap in the trash..


Step#5 unbolt the bumper at the frame. 8 nuts, 4 per side.





Bumper removed, heres the 8 studs, remove the nuts.. not bolts as stated on the pic.


remove bumper, at this point I disconnected the wires from the bumper, I had an extra set of hands to hold the bumper up.

Disreguard bumper in the trash or the for sale section.

Step#6, remove the dust cover., i think thats the name. sits on top the frame rails..





Your done,,, Go buy some nice bumpers from one of our vendors.....

I'm personally going to run the Purejeep bumpers, I got from www.4wd.com



Tips.

I wasnt able to unscrew the plastic screws, You can do it with the proper tools.

You can either drill them out, or pop them off with a nice size pry bar.

x2 on the big pry bar for those inserts and I was concerned about a rock ripping that plastic off.

Just a quick tip. . . you don't need a pry bar for the "inserts". (They're actually called push pins.)

Just take a screw (I prefer a sharp drywall type) and screw it a quarter/ half turn down inside the center of the plastic push pin, give it a pull and the center will pull out and then you can use a little J-hook, screw driver, etc. to remove the outside piece.

thats a good tip. If you want to save them. and not buy new ones.

You can actually screw them out, if you have a small pry bar pushing up.

I didnt care to keep that stuff. so it was quick to pry them off.

damn this is hard when your bumper is all bent out of shape...

but thanks to this write up it only took me 3 hours to remove my front bumper rather then 6-7.

my problem was i had hit a tree while off road and it crushed the one wing in all the way to the tire. so now that the bumper is off, time to start my stubby project... god i hope i don't mess it up... :sad:

but yeah, this is what mine looked like when done:






it was bent much futher then in the last picture. i had to pry it out in order for it to come off the square mount points.

the plastic screw insterts screw right out if you dont put any downward pressure one the screw, just turn it. after the screw comes out, the insert is easily removed with your fingers, or small screwdriver.

You don't need to use a pry bar on the push pins.

Just screw a drywall / wood screw down in the center a turn or so and pull the center pin out, then it's easy to pull the outside of the push pin with a little J-hook.
