Yes those are the hooks I used. I know they are rated for 40 pounds but that is I believe is the shear rating. Before I attached them I pulled myself with the cable attached to the gallows. (i btw am not a small person 240 pounds) and no bowing in the system, well no more the expected in the 4x4.

I like the crank winch you used. I might add this to mine. Would definitely make it easier.

$25 from Big R (Farm supply) store might find it cheaper at Wally World but I try and avoid them.

Only change I would make is to add spreader bars front-to-back. Without spreader bars there is a lot of force squeezing the top which might damage it in time. Spreader bars would take that force and redirect it so the only force on the top would be vertical.

I bought 2 4x4 eight feet long and some lag bolts to hold it together and then used some should bolts for strength. Lastly eye bolts and some pulleys. Oh and boat wench for the lifting. Parts list: 2 4x4 8 feet 3 5/16 lag bolts 6 inches 4 3/8 shoulder bolts 6 inches 4 eye bolts 4 pulleys 30 feet 1/8 wire rope Boat hand crank 3 gate hinges <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=544547"/> <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=544548"/> <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=544549"/> <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=544550"/> The brace was made with the scrap from the top bar.
Think you could post some more measurements? Like how long the cross piece is and and how long the brace is. Also where your drill holes are. I would appreciate it.

Ya, the electric winch is the way to go. I just did mine with a game hoist (deer hanger) and worked ok. Definitely going to have to do some tweaking. I'll be waiting for a 50% coupon for Harbor Freight before I get my winch.

Working today I will see about taking care of the measurements on Sunday. I believe the top brace is 6 feet and the angled brace is made with the scrap from it,
