Cleaned my throttle body this afternoon. Had a very rough idle and throttle was unresponsive. My JKU actually stalled and wouldn't start, which was a pain. Went to AutoZone, bought a $5 can of throttle bottle cleaner, and followed the write-up. Incredibly easy to do, inexpensive, and the write-up was awesome! Really helpful!
You'll see from the pics that the backside of the throttle body is where the majority of the gunk build-up accumulated. It was oddly satisfying cleaning it .
My notes:
You'll need an extender for your socket wrench to get to bottom left one. Or at least I did.
After tightening everything back and starting my JK, I noticed that it still had a rough idle and felt like my engine was about to die again. The temperature gauge was going crazy too - fluctuating back and forth. After about 5 minutes or so, everything got back to normal. Idle wasn't rough anymore and sat at 700-800rpm which is normal. Guess it needed a little time to readjust. I suspect the temperature fluctuation was due to me unplugging the positive terminal of the battery
Took about 40 minutes for me from start to finish. So glad I didn't have my JK towed to the dealer because I know they would have charged upwards of $250 just to do a $5 job
Haven't driven it around long enough to notice any fuel economy changes, but I suppose I can come back and edit if I see any changes.

Googled my problem and this thread came up. Just finished cleaning mine and looks like the problem is fixed. Gonna take it for a ride and see how it runs.
Edit: Jeep is running a lot smoother. Great thread.
