Default Rugged Ridge Spartan 10.5K Winch Installation

Hello, I recently installed the Rugged Ridge 10.5K Spartan Winch with synthetic rope on my 2012 JKU and I created a video and took pictures. I plan on writing a review once I attend a 5 hour winching class.

Below are a few pics... take a look!! I'll post the video on the thread next!!

At Uwharrie National Forest. There's a class where they show you fundamentals and they actually have you roll a truck and then recover it by setting it back on it's tires using winches on 2 vehicles. The name of the group is the Uhwarrie Offroad Training Center. Uwharrie Off-Road Training Center | North Carolina

You wired the winch directly to the battery?

Yes sir... never a problem with the first winch, however, I'm open to suggestions.

i use a warn 62132 power interrupt switch. If you think about it, what runs off of your battery that doesn't have a fuse or circuit breaker? And while I understand that you are in some kind of relationship with Rugged Ridge, ask yourself about the true quality of their products and do you really want a product of theirs to have full 100% uninterrupted connectivity to your battery? Any kind of short in the winch will mean total melt down of your Jeep, and they won't have any liability.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm ordering the kit and will let you know how my install goes.

Don't freak out the first time you try it out and you're not running the engine and the winch stops working. I did that and thought I screwed something up. The switch shuts off the winch because it draws more amps than the battery can handle with the engine not running.

The interrupt switch will be here on Saturday. I hope to get it installed... may just connect it to my SPOD.
