I ran the stock 4:10's in my 07 rubi with 35's with no issues. Now I have the 12 with 34's with 3:73 gears and no issues. I did get the Procal to get my shift points back this time and that made a big difference.

Yes, it will not be suitable. I have 3.73 now with 35" and an auto trans 4door model 3.25lift kit. Around town you won't notice it much but get ur JK on a road above 50, and you will notice it. You are putting so much strain on your transmission and transfer case because once at a certain speed it will keep down shifting and up shifting just to stay at 70mph(upshifts at over 3000rpms). If you drive like grandpa then don't worry the damage will take longer. I just changed my trans filter and oil because the oil was black(no damage to the trans)but a serious indication of heat. You can do 4.88 but that's a preference, if u are adding weight like bumpers, skid plates, winch, rocker rails, etc you could be adding another 500 pounds or more without realizing it. Some people on all the forums will say they wish they went bigger 4.88 to 5.13 or went smaller 5.13 to 4.88. Like I said preference. Also jeep should have stuck with the 4.0, 3.6 and 3.8 suck. All in all your 4.10 gears are just okay.

You may ask where does all the 4.10 hype come from and its plainly because older model jeeps didn't need anything more aggressive then 4.10 gears. But also the CJ's and YJ and 2dr TJ's are light in weight. Another is on a CJ you could lift it 6ins and put 31" on and you were set. You didn't have to go bigger unless you were compensating for something. Its times like this I miss all my CJ's but then again I don't miss the Flintstones floors.

Update : after the installation. While driving on the Parkway doing 75 the track bar snapped at the jam nut. This should have never have happened. Not only dangerous but deadly. Contacted Rusty's with no response. Since the installation I have only done MILD offroading, only one rock trip that I did the beginner to intermediate trail. Through research I have found that it's not an isolated incident. will give update once i hear back. sent another email on 4/29 and called.

I am considering putting this lift on my 2008 JKU Wrangler with 35x12.5 Nitto Trial Grapps. and 17x9 Pro Comp Wheels with a 4.75 Backspacing. I see that it is recommended (with most lifts over 3") that the owner extend the brakelines, front and rear track bars etc. What makes me lean more towards the Rusty 3.25" is that it comes with what seems to be all of the "necessary" components for a 3"+ lift. Since this is my everyday driver, it will not be seeing any rock crawling - light trail riding at the most. Will I need ANY other components for my Jeep after installation? I will mainly be driving around town, and the occasion 50 MPH-70MPH on parkways and highways. I am also thinking about getting a steering stabilizer, just for added comfort...

Thanks,
MartinJKU

Are you going to re-gear? I would. Went with 5.13 to get close to factory. Very happy

So when i first posted this review i was very pleased with the lift kit. But for the past two years it has been nothing but down hill. Their track bar almost killed me on the parkway when the eye snapped. It is incredible squeaky and loud, not like the tons of kits i put on my other jeeps over the past 15 years. And i mean loud. The quick disconnects rusted out so fast and had to buy new pins and then replace it all together. Just not happy. Got new skyjacker 4.5in lift to replace

1/6/12 I installed the Rusty's 3.25 inch lift on my 2011 JK. Let me first off offer a bit of advice, directions do not mean much if u have never done a lift before, thank God I've done about a dozen.
FRONT INSTALL : 3-4hrs
You will need 18-19-14-10mm sockets and wrenches, vice grips for the front shocks. The uninstall of stock parts is incredibly easy make sure u have real Jack stands and not ones from Kmart! U need enough clearance to finagle the new larger coils. Put them in first and start with the passenger side. Its a bitch! On the driver and passenger side there's a plastic clip behind the rotor, clip it! And there ya go, install the brake brackets and the sway bar links, adjustable track bar and the Front is done.

REAR INSTALL : 3-4hrs
Same as front but u need to work a little harder to get the coils in. And the shock sleeve bracket is the hardest part of the rear install... Just trying to sit it right into the opening is a pain, but I understand why it doesn't come already installed, due to the amount of people who have custom work or for use with other lift kits.

Overall:
The lift is very nice, been driving it without an aliment at 80mph and no bump steer at all. In town though, it drives like my old CJ lifted of course, but on the highway its smoother then my stock jeep components. I am impressed though overall.

After a week of highway driving:
I have to say after reading all the shocking negative feedback about rusty's products, I have to say those writers are nuts, or just plan drunk when they installed the lifts. I took the jeep for a simple suspension test and was impressed with its handling through water, mud and some kind of slush thing. I highly suggest that you wait at least 100-300miles before going crazy wheeling. All new suspension components need time to settle, and I don't mean by loosing lift height because I haven't lost any. For all questions pertaining to drop pitman arm and lower control arms, YOU DON'T NEED THEM! When jeep came out with the JK the control arms are probably 3-4 inches longer and stronger then the TJ. So don't waste your money UNLESS!!! You are going higher then 4inches of lift and doing serious off-roading, because now you have changed the steering angle and may most likely encounter bump steer or the "death wobble".
AND IF YOU ARE USING STOCK RIMS WITH YOUR NEW TIRES(I HAVE 35") U WILL NEED SPIDERTEX 1.5" SPACERS.
the rear tires will not fit on!

DO A LIFT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, IT WILL SAVE YOU MORE MONEY IN THE END! -JEEPJKGRRL
