SPAL Fan install

I opted for the parts store version...
I went with a OEM replacement from Advanced Auto for $130 and an inline switch to kill it before I dive. The OEM fan moves ALOT of air, and at 110k miles I cant say it is really a weak link. I treat my Jeep hard, and drive it 40 miles DAILY in Houston traffic. I would rather know I could have an OEM unit replaced in 30 minutes after a call to Advanced than wonder how hot my engine will run with A/C on in +110* rush hour traffic.
I may end up building an SPAL or similar unit for serious mud trips- you can literally swap these things out in less than 2 tall boys.

what type of disconnect switch are people using in-line with their fans?
Also anyone else have info no the no low speed issue? Is it that everyone that had this issue also had a fried resistor pack on the shroud as well?

switch
what type of switch are people using to disconnect the fan?
Also, everyone with only one speed issues....were they all due to the resistor pack being bad on the shroud?

So I got the Spal setup from universal. How are the wiring connections done. The connector provided obviously is not designed to fit the oem connector. See pics. This is probably a noob question but honestly my son (9yrs) and I are trying to accomplish a project together. Thanks for any assistance.

I cut off the spal connector and spliced it into the stock housing so that the jeep could still run the fan normally. The fans worked well like this for over two years.

Anybody install on 2012-2016 jeep
Hey guys, I know this thread is old, but just curious if anyone has used this fan on the late model JK's? The fan changed in 2012 and since I have a 2013 JKU I was hoping someone has already put a Spal fan in. My stock fan went out and a replacement is about $400 (vs the $100 for the 07-11 JK's). I was specifically looking at the RS5200 Spal fan/shroud assembly which UPI lists for about $300. My biggest question regarding the install is not the cooling power or how to put it in, but the electrical piece as the harness on the factory fan is soldered to the motor controller and the end is circular not square. Also, Chrysler decided to do away with the resistor in the fan shroud. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Updated: So just spoke with Spal and they said that currently they don't offer a plug and play option for the '12+ JK's that connects to the stock wiring harness. You can wire the fan separately but their wiring harness but you'd be stuck with a CEL. He did say they are working on it though.
