Teraflex Adjustable Spare carrier - Install Question
I installed the hinge and adjustable spare mount this weekend. Once I got the spare on, I immediately noticed that the tire "wobbled" or shifted even more that it did before. Seems the two parts of the mount that slide into each other, have enough play between the "cylinder" parts that the tire moves. I could never tighten the "pinch bolts" enough to tighten it up and stop it. I eventually reinstalled the OEM mount until I can resolve.
This morning I had a thought. The instructions show using the 2 spacers on the front of the two pinch bolts. This prevents the outer cylinder from clamping down tightly on the inner. I watched a few install videos and none of them show any spacers, but the printed instructions clearly do.
For those of you who have these mounts, did you use the spacers? See the pic below. The spacers I am referring to are on the upper bolt.

It's been fine since summer when I got it.

I used the spacers exactly as per the instructions. I've torqued to specs and have not had any issues with rattles or vibrations. It's extremely solid. Did you ever solve your issue?
