You're not stealing the thread, this is what it's for. Great job, our builds are very similar. Looks like we both decided to stop just short of the door catch and contoured the box around the fold down table. Nicely done!

Thank,

Looks like we both have 4 legged friends that needed to be factored into the build. I needed to get the dog create in for my 2 Beagles.

Nice! Our GSD Addie is known to have the world revolve around her, she is very well treated.

Made a little more progress yesterday before I hurt my back. I'm actually home from work early and on the couch with flexeril/cyclobenzaprine onboard trying to get some relief.

Addie slid around to much on the bare Birch and the factory rubber floor mat fit like crap so I went down to Tractor supply an got a 5x6' horse stall mat. The only mat they had that was large enough was 3/4". I Traced the pattern out on it and went to town with the zip saw. Results are nice, only downfall is the weight of the mating easily exceeds 30lbs, no kidding....

Next I went to work making the drawer's face. I wanted it to be 2 pieces, one that sits just inside the boxed frame and gives support for strength and one that countours tightly around the back of the Jeep and makes it look nice.

Cut out a pattern for the veneer

Then cut out the wood

Lookin good so far! I'm going to sand the left side of the veneer so it follows the curvature of the top. I'll have to remove ~3-4mm of material. Other than that its time for the sides/back/bottom of the drawer. Still waiting on sliders.

Got my K&V 26" locking slider in today the non-locking version of it should come in Thursday for the other side. I think I'm going to be mounting the locking slider on the drivers side. If you've never seen the knape & vogt 8908 slide, they are slick (and heavy)! 500lb capacity, automatically lock when fully open and fully closed. To unlock you simply pull on the handle or push on the handle depending on if you're opening or closing. With this slide, no separate locking device will be necessary. I'll probably mount a handle or two, but one wouldn't have to.

A few more photos of my drawer. Construction is now done, I'll paint it in a few weeks. I need a break, it was a lot of work and my wife was starting to think I was moving into the garage.

Mounting the hinges

Drawer complete

Test with top on

Finally in the Jeep

How the K&V locking sliders lock and unlock. I had to make an extension due to the face of the drawer being so thick.
