Default Smittybilt Defender Roof Rack Installation

Installed a Smittybilt Defender roof rack yesterday and could't be happier.

Here is an install video we created. https://youtu.be/KCaQ5Ro3AA0

That is a great video! Looks great.

Do you know what the dynamic and static weight capacity is on these racks when mounted on a Jeep?

Is it noisy? Have you experienced any perceivable drag from it?

Thanks

The rack + mounts weigh in at just over 65 lbs. I couldn't find any information regarding the weight capacity, but I am only planning on using it for 30-40 max loads, which I'm confident it can easily handle. I'll shoot Smittybilt an email and see what they say.

I have noticed a bit of wind noise on the freeway, but no whistling or anything annoying. No perceived drag, but I'm sure it's affecting my mpg and will know to what extent after I run though a tank of gas.

Thanks for watching

So those instructions that I didn't really bother to read, they mention the maximum cargo payload is 150lbs.

That isnt too bad. Thanks for posting all the info. I had a Gobi Stealth on my previous JK but really never used it to its full potential and am looking for something lighter and less....big I guess is the right word. I am interested to see if you think it affects your mpg etc.

Again, thanks for the post.

Trailrecon. Small world! I just saw the video, and recognized your Jeep. Yesterday, driving home from work(downtown) heading up 163/15 north to Rancho Bernardo. Your Rack caught my eye (no pun intended). I thought the plate on the back was a light, until I got closer. I was also trying to see your CB Antenna install. I'm in the middle of installing CB and ARB compressor under the passenger seat.
Cheers!

Small world! If you want a hand with the CB install, I have a tuner and would gladly assist.

Hey there. Been following your Youtube trail videos and was wondering how you like the rack after some trail time with it?

Thanks!
