Alright, just came back from fueling and as per my hand calculations, I got 11.5 mpg.... as per my EVIC, 11.7 mpg !!! Pretty darn close.... Couple of questions.... I installed window screening inside my grill to protect my radiator..... With the stock air box, could it be interviening with the airflow since that stuff is nitted pretty tight.???? My guess is that this is completely irrelevent, but you know.... second thinking everything now!!! Gonna do my first oil change tomorrow and check everything out... any suggestions.???? Your not saving gas by not letting it warm up a bit before you drive.
Driving like an old lady will not help your mileage. The engine lugs too much and gets lazy. Step on it once in awhile.

Not a huge factor but cold dense air is harder for our "bricks" to push through. I find winter brings more wind in my area which causes JK headaches. Winter fuel is a downer as well. Interesting the 3.6 was supposed to be better on mpg but no such truth to that it seems. My 3.8 could get 18mpg in the summer on 35".

Same thing my dad has 2013 3.21 he gets 18-22 I have 2013 3.73 I get around 12-16.... I knew that it was not going to be great going in to the buy. I also know when I put larger tires on my mpg will go up( as backwards as that sounds .) my friend who also has a 2013 with 37s and 3.73 gets almost 20... The jks are all gears in terms of performance and mileage, well that and they are shaped like a brick.
The only thing that gives me peace of mind is that I love my jeep and I don't mind paying the premium to drive it . Even though I have not even started my build yet !

wow those are pretty horrible. I get 13-14 hwy and 16 city (no those are not backwards) on my 2012 6-speed JKUR w 37's and 5.13's. Back when I was on stock 32's w/ stock 4.10's I was getting 18-19 city/hwy combined. ARe you running some kind of high ethanol gas? I have read that gas with a high ethanol content give you worse MPG than normal gas.

Many factors can be attributed to good or poor mpg:
Elevation.
Mods to the jeep ( lift, bumpers )
Tire type and weight
Trans
Gearing
Weather
Fuel
Hilly or not hilly
Condition of the jeep
Mechanical failures causing poor mpg
Local traffic. ( stop n go )( or highway )
And my favourite........Driver!

Ok, heading out to the garage to do my oil change and verification.... I do recall last automn, before snow came, a few times as I backed out my driveway, a few wet spots on the ground that could have been exhaust leak condensation. I didn't make a big deal out of it, since you normally hear an exhaust leak and the engine was and still is surprisingly silent.
I attributed it to the possibility that it was overnight condensation that had leaked through the hood louvers drain hole....
More to come, I will look at things meticulously and of course get back with my findings.
Meanwhile, my wife is questionning the fact that I am doing that first oil change and check-up myself, when I should be going to the dealer for all my issues since it is a brand new Jeep.!!!!
Its a jeep thing...
