Default 3.8 snorkel on a 3.6 JK?

Has anyone tried to alter a 3.8 jk snorkel to fit on the newer 3.6 engine? I'm sure it could be done, just wondering if anyone has suceeded?

The only reason I have is the cheap versions are available for the 3.8 and not the 3.6. If it was an easy mod, I thought about trying it.

A knockoff snorkel is $100...a quality, sealed in-line filter (like a K&N Apollo) is $100-$150...quality 4-ply silicone couplers are $50...assorted clamps, mounts and assorted hardware $30. After all that you will be in it for around $300. An AEV is $379 shipped from Northridge. So if that is the route you want to take, $79 is not worth the effort with no guarantee if doesnt look like crap or function poorly. The stock box for the 3.8 and 3.6 are different enough that they are not compatible.

I was really just wondering about the differences in the airboxes. I was thinking that the 3.6 airbox could be modified but I don't really know what the 3.8 box looks like. I was not going to remove the box and replace it with an inline filter. If it was easy, I thought someone on here would have tried it.

By no means a dumb idea or question. If I could have somehow married a gen 1 clone with my 3.6 box I wouldve done it at least for a while. The AEV gen 2 is nice though. I dont regret the purchase at all. My fenders arent faded and the material match suits my pickyness.

Ya. Dish out the coin for the aev gen2. I love mine and wont have to modify or screw something. Mess up a good airbox and your back to square one. Gen2 is the better snorkel, no cheap looking plastic or silly fitment issues

I looked at it again tonight and I think your right. I need to just buy the Gen 2. It seems like I have about 4 things I want to do and they are all about $350. I need to prioritize and place the order!
