You mentioned uptravel. That will be controlled by your shocks (and the tiny little bumpstops on them). When they are fully compressed, no more uptravel. So I guess to get a better idea of how much empty space you will have, cycle the suspension and measure.

It is not an immediate failure the second the lift goes on. Just make a habit of crawling underneath and looking for the grease splatter above the joints. (tall lift, steeper angle on driveshafts, rubber boots around joints get 'pinched', wear through, spit grease, dry out, make noise, seize - time to decide what to do about it)
What advice are you still looking for? You don't want to fill the wheel wells. It is sounding like you are happy with 35's and don't really want to move up to 37's? So I don't really know what you are wanting anyone to say.

looks good! Enjoy it and the fact that you and your significant other appreciate each other's hobbies. I'd go with 37s. Should fill in wheel wells nicely and stuff with no trimming. Enjoy your JK! (PS: that much lift isn't for me, I'd break things. Ha!) PSS your front driveshaft WILL look like this in 6 months or less: (probably the rear too!) This was 6 months after lifting mine 3.5" and running trails for a couple of days in SW Colorado. Sent from some string and a few tin cans.
