I have done it myself, removing the pre cats without the sensors. No code errors, runs fine. With a chambered hi flow muffler, it has a nice note and low grumbling when changing down gears.

I have removed the two catalyts that don't have O2 sensors

I have a K&N CAI also

my results was like this :

1-
with the company catback:

the starting ( from idle to about 80km/hr ) become little bit slower, but on high way ( from 100kmlhr to 170kmlhr) the JK went tooo fast

but also when I tried it in desert, I noticed loosing much torque

2-
with a modified catback ( such as gibson , borla and others )

the starting return normal and on high way it was good also but not as much with the company catback

in offroad, the torque that i have lost returned back

I think the engine breathe much better

The "pre cats" are the only converters on the Jeep. Those other two bulges are resonators.

Aren't there legal issues?
I thought you had to register as a farm vehicle in order to remove the cat.

It's illegal for a certified shop to remove them. As far as I know, it's not legal for the owner. That's how it used to be, it may have changed. If you have inspection where you live, it likely will not pass. I've seen people remove them before on other vehicles and they still passed, though.

No inspections here-oklahoma
Although I see a lot of cars that need an inspection

From what I'm gathering:

You can remove all that junk and just go pipe and muffler with no codes popping up or check lights but, will cause the motor to run like crap.

Is this right?

Thanks everyone!

Come on think about our pledge to tread lightly, what are you saying when you remove the cats.

If you think extra flow will get you more usable torque or power then go with an aftermarket with a larger flow area.

I personally dont want to wheel behind a stinky jeep without cats.

My cats gone bad last year because of faulting PCM. Engine was running lean and misfiring a little time to time. Replaced PCM and deleted all 4 of them. No codes issues etc. Engine start breathing freely and I can feel huge gain in both hp and torque.
