I thought about that too. Your right and smart to be cautious. We can all incriminate our selves.

I have ordered all the parts for "phase 1" of my build, which will be all I do this year. Here's how it breaks down:

15x8 Cragar Soft 8's $39 each, five wheels and shipping ran $281

35x12.5R15 Hankook Dynapro MT's from my local Firestone guy, $944 for five tires installed and balanced

Skyjacker 3.5" lift with lower arms and shocks $892

Rancho Express adjustable upper arms $243

Procal AEV $129

windshield light brackets $29

Hella 500's (kit) for front bumper $44 on sale at Wal-Mart of all places

Hella 700FF's(kit) for windshield $109 at Pep Boys

stock bumper stubby chop job, free and awesome

stock fender chop, free

all together that's about $2800. If I can squeeze out a little more, I'm gonna get that universal winch plate from Harbor Freight and do a stock bumper winch mod, and call it good for a while. I'm going to post a ton of pics when everything is installed, which I hope to do tbs weekend.

I think I added it all up one time. I was around 15K. My wife checks all our accounts like a hawk. I can't get away with $h't anymore. I told her might as well ear mark 4K for my PR44 with eaton elocker before the years end. I plan on breaking that before fall... lol.. 37's on a locked 4.56 D30 is not going to last long the way I wheel. I also have plans for hydro assist so that's another 1K.... I'm starting to worrie I have a Jeep mods problem.... it's kinda like gambeling but you get parts instead of loosing all your money at the tables and have nothing to show for it.

Build cost is going vary from person to person. I honestly try to catch sales, promo's, rebates, % off coupon codes, and forum discounts. Also buying from this sites for sale stuff and of course EBay.

Research is the key. But Keep in mind I saw you use the word "Investment"

Vehicles are not "Investments" in general. Unless you get a limited # vehicle with a S/N plack or specially edition...etc

They mostly depreciate and so do the mods. I can say for a fact I won't get an extra 15K for my Jeep if I tried to sell it today. I would be lucky to get .50 on the dollar for the mods.

Vehicles are more like a Tool. You buy it. It does what you want it to do. You maintain it and you use it for years.

If you want to invest in something I recommend AT&T stock slow earner but pays dividends. But you should really consult a broker.
