Central Texan Build
My wife and I have purchased a 13' sport, true blue, and have loved every mile put on it so far. The vehicle is hers....but mine to mod. Lol. I gave her the list and said, "Your gonna love it when its finished." Well, the list is as follows:
Rock Krawler 3.5 mid
17" method double standard
37" Mickey Thompson MTZ
Smitty MOD front bumper
Smitty rear bumper
Smitty tire carrier
Smitty XRC fender flairs
Smitty XRC 10 winch
5.13 gears
AEV ProCal to get it all in check
All on order, and will be ordering:
EVO Sleeves and gussets
To finish it up.
The AEV just came in and gets me a little excited.
Now!
Pictures of the build to come.

We will get out and go wheelin' every chance we get...we work a ton..both my wife and I..but we did just get back from a trip to Hot Springs/Little Rock, Arkansas. My hope was to have everything in and on by the trip so we could head up to the superlift offroad park there, but didnt work out. We did venture off the pavement for a quick photo in the snow.
As for the shafts...i think i need to see exactly what my obstacles are before i keep digging deeper. This is my first jeep, and even though i want to go all out right off the bat, i know i need to keep my sanity. I also have a 69' camaro i am trying to not lose track of right now....my pockets are real deep either...this is a stretch for me by all means.

Have you researched the gear charts for the new 3.6 Pentastar? 4.10's work with 35's although 4.56 is more performance oriented. With that mindset 4.56 or 4.88 would be perfect for 37's. The 5.13's seem steep especially on a Dana 30.

I would agree, 4:88's for 37's are what I am heading towards. I have the 35's now and it's a little low maybe, with 37's it should be on point

I did do quite a bit of research, but did not know that the new 3.6 would make a Hugh difference. I did talk to the guys at 4wheelparts and they did recommend the 5.13s. I mentioned that I had a 13'.
Does it help that I have the AEV ProCal? I can reprogram, and this is not a rubicon if that makes any difference...if I need to got 4.88s....I need to know ASAP.....what's the consensus? But this is the first I have heard about the 5.13 vs 3.6

I'm running 4.56 gears with 35" tires and getting ready to install 37" tires. I'd recommend 4.56 or 4.88 gears for a 37" tire. My 2012 Rubicon was perfectly happy running 35" tires with the stock 4.10 gears. If you go with 4WheelParts and use 5.13 gears, your Jeep will be sucking gas like crazy when you do any highway driving. Your rpms will be over 3100 with a stock 32" tire and about 2900 for a 35" tire at 70 mph. With 37" tires, you will be running at about 2700 rpm at 70, but if you decide later to drop back down in tire size for daily driving, the rpms will shoot back up. The higher rpms could also introduce driveline vibration that you don't want because it causes premature wear and breakage.
The ProCal is used to adjust your Jeep's computer data, so that it recognizes the larger tires and new gears. If you don't use the ProCal, your Jeep will go into limp mode because it is expecting to run at a certain rpm for a given speed. When you change your tire size and/or gearing, the rpms are wrong for what is programmed in your Jeep from the factory and your Jeep doesn't know what to do. It basically shuts down because it is trying to make adjustments that it can't make. Your electronic stability control will be going crazy.

I think I might have read it in this forum, but yeah 513's and the Dana 30 aren't a good combo. They ended up going down to a 4.88 after a lot of headaches.

4WheelParts is still using the mindset of the 3.8 wranglers. The more powerful 3.6 with an even better auto transmission doesn't need to gear that low unless you plan on going with larger than 37" tires in the future or all you do is drive offroad and want the higher rpms of the power band.
