Default Coilover coil spring length

Im in the middle of installing coilovers. I'm running 12's up front and 14's in the rear. Can someone explain to me the coil spring lengths? I orginally purchased 14.00 by 2.5 150 over 14.00 by 2.5 200 for the front but found out the 14 length upper and lower is to long. I also know the spring rates are off. Just curious about the lengths and the best way to determine the proper length.

Ive always been told 2" longer than the travel for lower and the upper can be flexible depending on if you have a tender (helper) spring and the ride height your looking for. Do you have a helper coil or triple rate set up? The weights can depend on valving and preference but should calculated off your vehicles corner weights and travel ratios and such. I run very different weights and such than the generic kits and such you see people running

Thanks for the info. It isnt a kit so im starting from scratch. I did read something on pirate about the lowers need to be 2 inchs longer than the top and the top needs to be the same size as the travel. Still learnning, but I do not have helper springs. I just picked up som 12.00 250 250s/ 14.00 250 350 for my front 12 inch travel fox's.

I am running 16 coilovers and have 16" lowers and 14" uppers on each. Its very close to the bottom of the body but does work. To be safe id at least go longer on the bottom. I am running helper springs though also. I think my front is 225 over 250 and my rear is 150 over 200.

For the front, you want to run 14" and 12". The back should be 14/14"

Are you saying they are too long to install the coils on the shocks or is it sitting too high when installed? At those rates they are going to compress quite a bit.
