Default Dana 30 axle shaft compatibility

So, I'm looking to buy a set of used axle shafts for my Dana 30 as spares. Nothing fancy, just something to toss in if I break one. No interest in better than OEM quality, as I want my axles to be the weakest link intensionally.

With that said, is there any reason a 27 spline Dana 30 Assembled axle shaft won't slide in the front of my JK? I've personally never tried it and would be interested in hearing from someone that has. I know there are minor differences in the various versions of the 30, for instance high vs low pinion. But I'm thinking the shafts haven't changed. Thanks in advance ladies and gents.

Length? JK 30's/44's are supposed to be wider than previous versions.

2007-16 complete D30 axle assemblies are interchangeable however 2012-16 do have a bigger UJoint.

Thank you sir! So the question is, will the axle SHAFTS from an older XJ work in my 2014 JK Dana 30 axle assembly?

No they will not. I believe the lengths and stubs are different.

Yup, jtphoto JK is correct on all counts.

One caveat that I discovered is that the bigger yokes will sometimes rub the bolts that hold the wheel bearing hub assembly in place when you install the newer shafts (2012+) in an older axle (2007-2011). This is the case for both the D30 and D44 front axles.
