How to install a kill switch in a 2012 or newer?
#62
So every time you are going to start your car you are going to open the door, unlatch the hood, open hood, turn switch, close hood, get in drivers seat and start your car? Sounds like a lot of work to me. Or it sounds like I would be like... nah I'm not turning it off this time don't want to get under my hood. Then whats the point of having it if I'm not going to use it.

P.S. Your pic and mine are oddly related! Haha. Good to know what my girl's skull looks like!

I like this idea too. I've also wondered about good uses for reed switches like 14sport mentioned. There are plenty of creative ways to disrupt a thief and still keep things convenient.

I'm not going with reed switch, I'm doing RFID.
Mine's a German Shepherd, but both German in origin and amazing dogs!

If you do anything trick, my advise is to build in an override like I did with mine in case you need to bring the Jeep in for service. The last thing you want is to have to show someone how to re-enable your rig.
And dog, if you want to use a reed switch, this is how I did it in my T/A.
I pulled the reed switch from a 79 cents HF alarm.
Because the leads were so tiny, I just cut the circuit board and used it as an assembly.

I'm torn if I should kill the fuel pump or just stick to the starter on a Automatic.
If everything fails and it's just the starter it won't start, but If it's the fuel pump it could die while moving which could be a bad day. I was thinking about using a latch relay set up for the fuel pump to prevent failure if the signal is lost, but I'm a wiring amateur and not sure if this is the best route for reliable fuel pump power.
