While rushing to reply, you missed the point.

issue# 2 yes, both have the same height and different centers of gravity due to control arm geometry.
No need for tables or calculations, this is basic physics.

If there is anything wrong in the following sketch, please point it out... :

That diagram is at rest.

It is incorrect when the vehicle brakes, turns, climbs or descends while in motion. It doesn't consider leverage or arc of travel when the suspension compresses or extends. It doesn't include the effect of 4 links on a rotated axle.

This is another example of you going off the rail with totally irrelevant information in regards to suspension systems and how they work. This just adds to confusion.
After reading this write up you seem to have some kind buyers remorse in the fact you went with a 4" lift and are trying to justify it with nonsense.

No where in the write up says you are wrong with running more lift then needed it only states that there is very little gained by doing it and will cause other things that can be detrimental to performance both on road and off.

The intent of this thread was to help people that have little or no knowledge of lifts or what the individual components do with an honest easy to read write up on bolt on lifts for the JK. I was not intending to give a class on suspension theory and design. I made reference to playing with a 4 link suspension calculator to see how different heights affect the performance of a vehicle in motion for those that are interested. The calculator will give you numbers and graphs to look at that will verify the information that has been given.

I am traveling right now and when I get home and have time I will go back and add some example to the write up to satisfy those that are too stubborn or lazy to do the simple look up on their own. I will also include some links in a section for those that are looking for a deeper understanding of suspension design and how everything works together.

What was so difficult to understand in my reply to this, that you insist on trying to read my mind - and read it wrongly ? :

I wanted the extra approach/departure angles and ground clearance.
I said - quite clearly - that I'd replace my lift with Metal Cloak, if there were import and service here.
If there were, and they had 4" lift and not 3.5", I'd take the 4".
I may have considered 2.5" lift for a JK, but not for the JKU I have.
Waiting for the next time you pretend to read my mind...

No where in the write up says you are wrong with running more lift then needed
I never said it was ...

Let me help you out reading my mind... it's the following:
So many words, repeated attempts at mind reading, and replies to what I didn't say -- but, so far, not a shred of evidence in reply to the one thing I did say all along:
The handling difference between 2.5" and 4" is small, and not even close to the drastic difference as was claimed ("2.5" running circles around a 4" lift).
I'd really like to see evidence that proves or disproves this.

And right now, on my mind, is making some coffee...

The incapability to adjust when *factual* information is presented, will never net success. Why waste your time?

Honestly... you've dropped plenty of pointers on where to find this info... you know, teach a man to fish and all.

Maybe if you stop responding to the baiting, he'll get bored and go suck start a shotgun. One can hope.

You have ZERO idea of what you are talking about and completely refuse to learn. Stop wasting other's time.

ABENDX and Dirtman......lemme simply what GJeep is asking- how do you turn a banana and duct tape into a functioning heim joint to fix death wobble and make it ride like a cadi while being zero maintenance but at the same time it needs to be a multipurpose tool also.

Yep....off track just like him. Thanks for beating the dead horse for those who want to do the same but cannot come to the same conclusion simply because they don't want to agree.

Oh shit.... that's easy. Look it up on PGK, WOG has a writeup.

Default long arm?

so i read the first post and skimmed fastly through everything else. Now I'm fairly new to the jeep game but I have done my research and I also have a large friend base that Have built rigs (which led me to getting a jeep) but I have decided to do a long arm kit. Do the same rules apply for long arms? I am running 33's on stock and i was able to keep up most of the time with my uncles built land rover.
I plan to be around 35's or 37's with around 3-4" long arm lift. What are your thoughts on this and do you have any suggestions? I would love any input at all.

Awesome thread, really helped me decide to stick with a 2.5" lift. Looking to run 35's for now.
