Default Phantom Dings?

Am I the only one with these Dings? They are sporadic but over the years have been getting more frequent. Lately it dinged twice instead of once.
It's when your driving and running out of gas, you hear a ding but no lights. You have gas so it can't be that. I have a sPod so I don't have any spliced wires.

Also last summer i made the trip out to Colorado from Pittsburgh, PA and on the trip out and back my ESP would go off and the ABS would come on. This is on the highway in 2WD. I could turn the ESP back on after some time but the ABS light stayed on till I would stop and get gas and let sit for a couple minuets. Now this hasn't happened since that trip, so who know on that one. Guess I'll just have to make the trip again.

Any thought will help. Thanks.

I thought these were associated with the trans getting too hot? Do you have an auto trans and no aftermarket tranny cooler?

Hey 'yinzer! My brother had the ESP/ABS problem after wheeling, ending up just being the wheel speed sensor. Cheap fix, lights went away.

Did you buy the Jeep used? Maybe a dash light is burnt out so you can't see the icon? Seatbelt warning ding malfunction maybe? Check the connections for corrosion/debris?

I recently broke a speed sensor while doing ball joints. The part was unavailable so had to put it back together as is. I squeezed a little dielectric grease into it and put back together, It still works, but every now and then it gives me that random ding and ABS light as you described, and then goes back to normal. Sounds like you have a bad speed sensor.

You're not alone. I get dings too. Not even low on gas. Sometimes while driving. Others leaving my work parking lot. Super weird.

I also broke the speed sensor changing the ball joints but that was after my trip. I feel it when I apply the breaks but the no lights come on. The lights would come on after a few hours of driving. It was all highway driving though so not sure way the ABS and ESP lights would come on. ? That hasn't happened since that trip but like I said I can't figure out the ding without any dash lights.

No, got it new and put 104,000 plus miles on it. Besides using oil this has been the few problems i've had with it. I did turn the seat belt dinger off and I didn't move the TPMS over with the new wheels so not sure if that's play with things in their. ?

You going to Bantam?

LOL - I'm glad I'm not imagining stuff. I've had that happen a couple times (I have a 2014 JKU with 15k on it) and I generally just think that the Jeep is bored and is screwing with me.

Jeep: "Ding!"
Me: "What the hell was that?" <Scans instruments trying to find the offending light>
Jeep: <silence>
Me: "Seriously, Jeep? That's not funny!"
Jeep: <snickers>
Me: "Jerk."
