I would bet that "doing it yourself" and "paying another shop to do it" are the same thing from the dealership's viewpoint. Basically anything that's not done by an actual Jeep dealer. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Far as my local dealers are concerned they don't care who installs it, have discussed this at two jeep dealers in my area. They all say up to 2.5" they won't flag it and don't care, anything higher and they will inspect it before any service is done to determine fault
