There is an adhesive style you can buy from summit. Peel and stick. I doubt you'd have an issue with it off, but it will put a good amount of heat into the floor, making the Jeep warmer inside. Enough heat could mess with the paint. Try it and let us know.

Default i think i might

unless i get some fender washers and some type of nut that would fit the threaded studs / would anyone know what type thread those are that hold the heat shield ? They are pretty rusted and cant tell but maybe i can clean them up a little it was dark and i couldnt see up in there well when i looked crap was fallen in my face lol ( i got out ) before a hunk of rust fell in my eye with no goggles on .
i was ready to bend it and tear it out but not sure if it would cause a fire hazard really ?

Happened to me too. I ripped it out. I don't have to worry about it rattling again

I used wide push-on nuts from a body shop; just held the shield up on the studs and pushed on the nuts. That was quite a few years ago. No problems since.

Default thanks for the help

i think i found the size nuts appears to be 1/4 - 28 fine thread
got it up temp until i can get some 2 inch fender washers and maybe use
1/4 -28 self locking nuts im thinking those original nuts will need to be removed for it to sit up flush . Or leave them and put a washer on above and below heat shield so it wont float around .
wonder why they rot off it looks to be aluminum unless its vibration ? (pita)
as usual it happens in cold crappy weather couldnt happen in the summer

ronjenx ( do you remember if you removed the factory nuts first?
i dont want to try and remove them and have the stud floating around trying to secure that too lol ) are those studs welded on to the tub?
btw I thought of those push ons too but then wondered if the heat would melt them , guess not I think ill find the nuts at tractor supply quicker than those push on ones could be found here

The push-on nuts I used are steel. I got them from a parts store that specializes in auto paints and auto body hardware.

I don't recall if I removed the original nuts.

Default oh ok

didnt know they made steel ones . might be easyer to just do the washer above and below lol rather than trying to get them off but there again , if they are rusty that will only lead to body rot if left on there maybe . grrr prob have to remove them to be certain .
im getting closer to the other guy who ripped his off no more rattles lol

People do things and often get away with it.
Personally, I feel the heat shield is there for a reason, so I took the necessary steps to leave it securely in place.
