Default RCV's or G2 Gold front shafts

I've been researching the pro's and cons of RCV's. It appears they are more "delicate" than previously thought and a tad more time consuming in lubricating them. Around $1300 or $989 for the G2 upgraded 4340 chromoly traditional shafts. Anyone with experience chime in to help me?

I don't think I know of a broken RCV in a JK. Lubricating takes a couple min and isn't that often. I wouldn't factor that. What is time consuming is breaking u-joints on the trail. It is nice with the RCV knowing you can have the wheels turned while jammed in some rocks and that you won't be blowing a joint.

If you are going to keep u-joints in the front, I wouldn't even bother upgrading the shafts.

^^^what invest said. Upgraded shafts accomplish little when a u joint gives and ruins the ears.

Do the RCV's now come with the lube nipple on the end of shaft as standard now?

It uses a needle grease tip on the grease gun. you don't use a zerk on it. No need.

RCV Needle Grease Tip

You can buy those at any parts stores.

Greasing the RCV's is as simple and quick as can be if you don't have center caps. Just push the needle into the end of the shaft give a few pumps and done. It actually took me longer to write this than to grease both shafts.

At least tack the caps in place.
