Default Second guessing my lift purchase-Trail Master

I bought the 3" Trail Master coil lift for my 2009 2 door Rubicon and after reading up more on it I'm having second thoughts. You actually get about 3.5" on a 2 door and I'm afraid that it may be to much. I got the track bar brackets for front and rear but what about the lower front control arms and drive shafts? Will I probably have issues with these with that kind of height? I am planning on off roading this Jeep. Pic below of kit.

Never run those coils or shocks, so can't comment on them, but it's a 'basic' lift. Plan on adding the caster correction of your choice. And wouldn't be a bad idea to grab an adjustable front trackbar to center that axle.

The rear trackbar relo bracket is a cheap bolt-on? Do a little reading, shouldn't take long to find a few pics of them ripped off the axle. Consider having it welded, or maybe move to a better bracket?

Since you have a 2door, both driveshafts may be a concern at that height. Make a habit of crawling underneath and checking. When you see either of the tcase joints spitting grease, decide what you want to do about it. (lots of variables, no way of knowing ahead of time whether you will or won't have an issue)

You will be up in the height range where people start thinking about steering correction, so read a few threads on draglink flips.

And if you haven't done so already, it may be a good time to read a few threads on front housing upgrades.

The specs list is for a lift for a 4door? Is that what you bought?

For 3.5" on a 2 door, you want at least adjustable front lower and rear upper control arms. You may need to cut and rotate your rear lower axle side coil perches to prevent excessive bowing of the rear springs.

You'll want an adjustable front trackbar, longer front and rear brakelines, extended bumpstops, longer front and rear swaybar links, and if you have an automatic, you'll eventually need an aftermarket front driveshaft.

If you want an inexpensive approach, stay at 2.5" or less lift on a 2 dr because you can skip many of these things.

Yes I bought the 4 door kit but 4WD says it doesn't matter, just gives more lift to a 2 door. I think I may send this lift back.
Thanks for the input.

You must be planning on 37's?

Do a little more research and don't listen to what the 4wd sales guys tell you. Stickie at the top of this section is a good start.

I think you should expect more that a half inch extra. Probably looking at 4-4.5", not 3.5".

But yeah, I think I would send that one back. Then, do more research and buy a 'complete' kit that will fit your needs.

I would return it and do some research on suspension and steering. You don't buy a $400 lift and throw on 37's In reality to properly run 37's you should be budgeting $6-8k depending on your ride height.

Nice to see you on the forum again Planman, I thought maybe you had left it.
