Spod, worth it?

Keep in mind SPOD still needs to be wired and setup. It's not a complete system... All of the SPOD and similar systems need to be wired up.



How does it have to be wired and set up?

Two mounting screws and hook it to the battery. Done !!

I love mine.

I built my own secondary fuse/relay box and my own switch panel. I did this for my Jk and for my wife's. Both look factory, but are 99% separate from the factory system.
That whole arduous "wired and setup" thing for the sPod entails an entire 30 minute, one battery connection, one plug, 4 screws; damn that's hard! Adding electrical accessories after installation is a two set screw, positive and negative wire connection process; a pair of A-pillar mounted driving lights took 15 minutes to install and connect to the sPod, that included trimming and shorting wires and cable bundling.

I like mine. But it isn't magic. You do have to wire in each controlled device. For a rear locker, this involves wiring from The Source (by the washer reservoir), under the body, to the rear axle. For an overhead rack lightbar, wiring through the cowl, up the overhead rack, to the light assembly. This doesn't change no matter how you control your accessories (ignoring the gimmicky "wireless" solutions).

I like my SPOD. Made wiring things up a lot easier and cleaner.

Also let's not forget that it helps saving battery power. In case battery voltage goes below a certain level it shuts down the accessories connected to it. This could make a big difference depending on where you are.

Big fan of my sPod. Like Mark, little over a year after purchase, had one small problem with a switch and they were more than helpful with the troubleshooting and helping me find the problem.

Add the fact that it's a vehicle specific application, I'd go with them any day...though an eight switch offering would be great!

For the past 34yrs most of my cars have had aftermarket light/electronic mods of some kind. First the first time it is nice to not have to crawl under the dash, remove the seats and or center console while wiring. To me, just that alone makes it worth it. Now the only major PITA is wire looming.

Hahahaha...that's how it is, too. Buy a product that makes a job easier and then the next hardest task left becomes the PITA.
