I was making an assumption that the stub shaft was stuck on the unit bearing.

Making progress drilling out the broken off hub bolt. Assuming I remove the axle shaft nut and nuts on the ball joints, there should be nothing from stopping me to pop off the whole knuckle and hub to get a better angle correct?

Correct.

Are you planning on drilling and using an easy out? With the hub and unit bearing removed, I would recommend welding a nut to the broken stud. The heat will help loosen the fastener as well.

Yes I plan drilling it out but I don't think an easy out will reach as pretty much all the threads except two of the bolt are snapped off in the knuckle/hub. My best bet is to drill it out and rethread the hole.

Didn't realize it snapped off so deep. Re-tapping two threads should be no problem. Good luck man.

Finally got the shaft out, the hub was so seized on it came off with it. Now I can easy out the bit that's left in it. Top ball joint was surprisingly tight and the bottom was shot. A torch, pb blaster, and bfh did the trick.
