Honestly, I think a D44 ring and pinion is enough to run 37s, unless you plan to abuse them. I found that it's everything else that can't handle it. Bearings, ball joints, drag links, etc. Sure, if you don't wheel, you can get away with a lot more. That said, if you have a D30, you can build a D60 for the cost of a 44. Makes sense to skip.

I'm really new, so dont take this as arguing just looking for clarification.

I've read several times that you can get a D60 for the price of a D44, but I don't understand how. I picked up a fully built take off D44 for 2400 with locker, RCVs, Reids, 4.88s, sleeves, guessets, ball joints, DL flip, JKS QDs, skids, ARB Diff Cover, Etc. This axle sat in the for sale section of this forum for months before I finally couldn't ignore it anymore. I have never seen a D60 for anywhere near that price.

Where is everyone getting one ton axles so cheap?

Thanks!

I have an auto 08 with stock 3.73's , 35" Kevlars and a 4" Evo lift.
Power is still great around town and decent on flat highways but once you hit any sort if hill it starts lugging and keeps kicking down a gear.
I'll be regearing soon to 4.56 or 4.88's

Invest was saying you could build one, not purchase one. That is right, a junk yard D60 can be rebuilt for less than a already rebuilt D44.

were you running a locker when this happened? I've seen many blow out in that scenario, particularly, when a locker was used on rock, like Moab.

I was you nearly exactly! Skip over 33 you won't be happy. You WILL WANT BETTER GEARING! The 3.8 is a dog and the transmission gearing is horrible. I had 35 with 3:73 for about 6 months and hated it! Went to 4:88. 4:88 but me back to where I was stock. Was great but keep in mind your d30 pinion starts to get small and your internals on the d30 become a week point. I now have rubi axles front and rear with 5:13. Less than 4:88 is not enough with 3.8 auto and 35's
