I'm glad I looked at this I always thought I had 3.21 gears but build sheet says 3.73. Thanks for posting that link.

Finally got around to doing this to check. Unfortunately I do have 3.21s. It's surprisingly ballsy for such tall gears.

They tend to work fine until you get bigger tires.

I'm only planning to go up to a 33" from the factory 32s.

My 2009 JKU Sahara build sheet says mine came with the 3.73 gears and I'm pretty certain that was standard with the Sahara and auto-trans package back then. Are the 3.21 gears being standard something that changed for the 2012+ 3.6L Sahara auto-trans JKU's?

I'll be moving to 35's some time after my lift is installed, I already know then I'll likely want to go to 5.13's w/lockers and then the real fun ($$$) begins.

From my build sheet:
DJRS - Next Gen. Dana 30 Solid Front Axle
DMEP - 3.73 Axle Ratio
DRZS - Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Rear Axle
DS7S - Conventional Differential Frt Axle
DS8S - Conventional Differential Rear Axle
EGT - 3.8L V6 SMPI Engine

Yeah. 3.21 are standard with 3.73 being an option now.

I think the 3.73s come with the max tow package now. My wife's '12 Sahara JKU has them.

Interesting. A tow package was the one thing missing that I wanted when I purchased my 2009. The dealership ended up installing a hitch for me which obviously didn't come with the trans cooler as part of the tow package which was good enough for me because my towing mostly consists of going to Uhaul and renting a trailer to go move some furniture or bringing home some 60in flat screen TV's from the store.

Maybe since the 2012+ also came with a new auto-trans they decided the 3.21 gears were a better fit for the Sahara's unless you needed the extra towing for the tow package?

Maybe I should go verify my Gears. My build sheet says 3.73, and if they're not, then maybe some replacements are due to me.

Unless you buy new I would never trust the build sheet or sticker.
