Upgrade Shocks??
Hey guys,
I'm driving a 14 jeep jku sahara. with 33' nitto grapplers and stock suspension. No lift.
This is my DD and I commute about 80kms (50 Miles) 6 days a week.
I understand how a jeep drives but I want to improve it, and wondering if upgrading my shocks will make a world of a difference in body roll and nose diving etc.
I'm thinking about getting Rancho 9000XL's adjustable shocks. But don't want to drop $700 CDN if it doesn't do much. lol
Let me here your inputs.
Thanks

Shock absorber dampen suspension movement, or in the specific case of Wranglers, the compression and rebound of the coil springs. If your issue is nose-diving and body roll (body weight transfer) then you need to address the springs.

Actually running shocks that allow you to adjust the nitrogen pressure or the compression can help with nose diving and body roll but will offer a rougher ride going over bumps and potholes due the the stiffer rates.
You can also reduce body roll by running a higher rate torsion bar (sway bar) or by raising the axle side track bar mount but may sacrifice up travel due to clearance with the body.

Do they sell stiffer springs? But then I will also have a rougher ride on bumps too. lol

I tried searching for a strut bar/brace that goes in the engine bay. I had one on my acura integra years ago.
It helped on turns, but they don't sell it for Jeeps as jeep mods are mostly geared for offroad not sport.

What are your coil numbers? I went to stiffer coils in rear. They came off a 4 door. I went from 54s to 59s. Still got to do front.
As for shocks I tried Rancho and skyjackers hydro shocks and hated them. To soft. To much squat and nose dive.
I now have the Zone shocks black with nitrogen. I love them. No more nose dive and are stiff. But I like the stiffer handling of suspension. Some People don't.

A strut tower brace is a wonderful thing in a uni-body car with McPherson strut front suspension. A Jeep JK is neither uni-body, nor equipped with McPherson struts but rather a body on frame constructed vehicle.
