Did a quick google, here's an example: Wheel Installation Instructions
Serach for the text "retainer" in this link, it's step 3 under wheel fit check.
3. Remove spring clip retainers, if applicable.
Most wheels are installed by a shop, so this type of info in the above link is in their training.

I found this. look at page 3 under wheel check fit

http://www2.sema.org/images/pdf/2648...utmk=269357241

Information i did not know about as i come from the OE dealer world and we rarely see aftermarket wheels so i had no idea this existed. I wish this had been included in the shipping info when i got this setup.

It's word for word identical to the link I had in the previous post, SEMA is probably the original source. We all make mistakes, my list is still getting longer.

Every day is a learning experience. My only wish is that i had been presented with this information when i got the package. It could have saved a lot of headache and heartache. Moving forward from here.

If I was a wheel manufacturer, or their lawyer, I'd add a counter-bore to the stud holes on the inside of the wheel (just like OEM wheels). The cost is likely pennies per wheel over a large production run. Instructions get lost, a manufacturing solution doesn't.

If it were me I would change out the remaining studs in case they were fatigued too.
