Welcome aboard shipmate, take it your doing the Fleet Marine Force Corpsman route; retired Navy Submarine Senior Chief here.
The SOCAL group on the forum is really active with Meet N Greets, Runs, and events (we just got back from running the Rubicon Trail with the NORCAL group two weeks ago). Especially compared to what I saw on the East Coast, so keep an eye out on the SOCAL watercooler section for events when you make it out to California and see you on the trails out here.
