I would check to see if HWY 4 is open. they close it off in winter right before the Lake Alpine turn off, and shut off the bottom access as well. Looks like it may still be close on the CA gov roads site.

We will have to watch over the next week or so to see if they open it.

On April 1st they lift the seasonal road closures so we are planning a run on the 18th.

Hopefully the hwy opens as well.

Default Slick rock oil skids

I now have 37's under my jeep. Should I turn my attention to oil pan skids for slick rock or will I be ok to hold off for now? I'm still doing fab work on my bumpers. So that is eating up my time frame but if skids are needed I can turn my attention to those.

Not sure. From what I could tell, the rock gardens didn't look that bad. Nothing like the Rubicon.

Hopefully Ken, Jason, or Mark will chime in but you're going to have more clearance than I will for sure. I'm only on 35's (true size is 34) on a 2.5" lift.

There's some belly drag stuff for the 4drs. Nothing too crazy though.

Well if it's still closed by the 11th, we can try for Strawberry Pass (further North from Slickrock) which is east of the city of Kyburz. It'll add about 20 minutes to our drive. It's still rated "difficult" but is lower on the scale than Slickrock....

That works for me also. But I wonder who has the job of opening the pass? Can't they tell we have had no snow this year lol? I was doing the rock crawler 2.5 lift but my springs never showed up so after a month I settled for 3.5 rubicon express cheaper lift, but with some luck I hope to switch it out next year for the Evo set up Ken has. But ya I'm down for whatever I just want to wheel. Doing alignment tomorrow than I will post some pics of the new monster.

But unfortunately they wont start opening until around May. Regardless of the lack of snow the Forest service wont open the gates until scheduled. Don't want anyone make a trip and be disappointed.

Im planning on putting some runs together this year and will post them in norcal.
