Default Jeep Jamboree USA Rubicon Trail 2015

A Latin word for “The Point of No Return”, the Rubicon is an aptly named trail that pushes any vehicle to its limits that dares to cross its terrain. Located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in El Dorado County, CA, this iconic trail has been the off roader’s paradise ever since the very first rigs made their way along its obstacle-ridden course.

The Rebels left the bunker in Orange County in the dark hours of Wednesday morning. After four stops for fuel, and a full day of driving, they finally made it to their first stop by 5:00PM in Lake Tahoe. After a night’s rest, their journey took them to Georgetown, CA, location of the world famous Jeep Jamboree USA Headquarters for trail registration and to meet the trail participants. The next morning, the Rebels headed out for the trailhead, and to begin their trek across the mighty Rubicon.

Trees as far as the eye can see, granite slabs, never ending obstacles, and a different beautiful scenery around every corner. The Rebels snaked their way through each and every demanding section, using every piece of armor on the Jeeps to keep them safe. Sliders and skid plates are mandatory, as rock damage in those areas is almost a certainty. But without incident, they made it to Rubicon Springs to set up camp. By that time, the weather had set in and the Rebels set up camp in the rain, only for it to end as soon as camp was set up. Funny how that works. Dinner that night included a smorgasbord of delicious baby back ribs.

The next day’s activities included a first for the Rebels. We hosted the “Rebel Beach Party” down by the banks of the Rubicon River. Using Taylor’s VIAIR Corp. - High Performance Compressors 2 on 2 compressor system, they inflated dozens of pool toys and brought the party down to the water for some cooling off and relaxation. Participants had a great time letting loose after a long day of wheeling, and enjoyed hanging out and swapping trail stories with each other. After an incredible steak dinner, it was lights out at camp for their last night on the trail. Sunday morning meant time to pack up and head out. The Rebels got back to pavement around noon to begin the long journey back to Orange County by nightfall.

We’d like to thank Jeep Jamboree for yet another incredible trip to the Rubicon Trail. These guys work year round to make sure every last detail of each trip is perfect, and it’s evident in how fast these trips fill up each year. The Rubicon Trail trip usually has a waiting list for most of the year, as it is (and should be) on everybody’s bucket list of places to wheel. Rebel Off Road is a proud National Sponsor of Jeep Jamboree USA, and we continue to support organizations that support the enthusiasts like you. Hope you can join us for next year’s Rubicon Trail trip!
