Best tire for stock JKU Sahara? 275/65R18?
 

I'm looking to upgrade the tires on my JKU Sahara to something more aggressive until down the road when I upgrade the suspension, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc.

I'm thinking about the BFG A/T's or Duratracs. 275/65R18 seems like the best choice to avoid rubbing and power loss.

Anyone have any experience, recommendations or pictures?

My recommendation is to buy a set of someone's rubi takeoffs. The stock bf Goodrich tires are much more aggressive looking. Cost is also attractive. I bought my set of five wheels/tires for $850. You will then be left with your set of five which you can sell or keep around for an extra set. I sold mine for $600 so it only cost me $250 to upgrade to the Goodrich ones.

I had the 275/65R18 Duratracs for 3 years before I went to a lift and 33x12.5x15. I thought it was great and a big improvement over the stock tires. Here it is before the lift.

I would go for the 285/65r18, it will look much better than 275/65r18.

I have the bfg at ko in this size and the ride is very good, much better than the 285/70r18 tires I had but that was because of the heavy black steelies.

Will post some poser shots once I have the Jeep cleaned.

285 or 275 you will still need some spacers, not for rubbing but just to make it look really cool.
Will order mine next month, if the wife gives her approval...(yeah i know i am a w..s)

definitely considering this as an option. for $250 you did great!

i think i'd prefer an a/t though for now, and might as well keep with the 18's until i go for the lift/bigger tires. in which case i think i'll move to a 17.

Here's a few more after a 2.5" lift with the 275/65R18's. There was no rubbing before the lift other than on the swaybar at full lock. After the lift I put on spacers and now I have wheels with 3.5" offset so no more spacers.

I'm running 285/70R17 Duratracs on stock wheels with 1.5" spidertracs wheel spacers. Spacers are needed.
