Replacing one TPMS, do I need programming?

I searched and ended up confused!

I broke a stem and probably need to replace one of the TPMS units. I am hoping the sender is still in the tire and not broken but I haven't tried to find it yet.

If I replace the whole unit (sender/stem, etc.) do I need to have the sender programmed? Or since it is only one unit, will it be recognized by the jeep? (2008)

Also, I am looking at Schrader 20066 TPMS Sensor on amazon. Anyone know another source?

Thanks!

BTW: watch out for cracks on the stem nuts. I noticed it when I rotated and hoped for the best. But guess what happened.....

There are two different types (frequency). As long as you get the one compatible for a 2008 you're fine. It should synch automatically once the tire is rolling for at least 20 min.

Thanks, kik.

I see that two other tires have cracked stem nuts. I guess I'll get replacements and fix them before I go through this again.

I'll need new tires sometime next year and replace all the sensors.

Anyone know if the rubber stem sensors are compatible with the 2008 models?

No programing needed.
