Lift kit with 35" tires, how low can I go?

I am thinking I would like to keep my center of gravity on the low side. I would like to figure out what the lowest lift is that I can put on my Jeep.

Can I put on a 2.5" lift and sucessfully use 35" tires or do I need to bump up to a four inch lift kit?

If I can put on a 2.5 inch lift kit, will I lose articulation buy hitting my fenders with the tires frequently on bumps and such?

Thank you
John

2.5 you can clear. I did a 4 inch so my depart and approach angles are better.

Someone will have to chime in on the flex though.

I have a Teraflex Leveling Kit and Xenon flat fenders. At the moment, I have 33.5" tires, but as you can see from the pic, there is plenty of room for when I make the jump to 35's.

Wow, I did not know I could clear 35 inch tires without a lift. I am thinking to continue with the 2.5 in lift however, between the tires and lift that should give my center a four inch raise to clear mounds and prevent high center.

I figure, no matter how high I go with the lift, it will not lift the pumpkins.

I am happy to know that I two and half inch lift will work fine.

I would like to replace my stock fender with flat painted metal fenders, thus providing more travel room.

Thanks,
John

Karl,

What brand is your front bumper?

Here is mine. 35's, 4 door Rubicon coils and shocks. No lift. Trimmed fenders and chopped pinched seam. I also cut the rock rails by 1.25 inches off the rear (not pictured)

I'm about to go 2" with BFG KM2 35's. For grins... I slapped one on yesterday to see if it would fit without the lift. Fits fine except at full turn it rubs the front bumper. Didn't try in the back but I would imagine the pinch seam would be a little too close for comfort.
I took a pic

I have the TF 2.5" lift and am running 35 mtrs. At full stuff when disco'd I will rub the fenders. Also rubbed the Rubi rock rail at full flex so I trimmed it back and also trimmed the rock rail. I plan on trimming my fenders too, but as stated I only rubbed at full flex.
