Cummins 4bt conversions

Hey guys. I'm interested in converting my jk unlimited to have a 4bt. I was wondering that if you have done a conversion yourself if you could shed your knowledge onto this thread. Any info you know about these conversions or pictures especially would be awesome. Thanks and lets see what we can dig up.

The latest JP magazine has an article on this subject - I would like to have a decent turbo diesel as well - just doesn't look that good of a mod.

what do you hope to accomplish with the 4bt? what are your expectations?

What really grabbed my attention about these diesel jeeps was mainly the fuel economy and drivability. Then of coarse the fact that diesels are torque animals an I could eat almost any trail I wanted to for breakfast once I have it set up correctly.

I think its for Offroad only, not sure exactly what this means, but if I could not insure and register for a daily driver, its not worth it. What makes me laugh is they think its ok to throw a gas guzzling hemi in it. If I can drive it daily and have all the benefits of the diesel, I would do it in a heart beat.

You do realize even if you picked up 5mpg you would have to drive 180,000 miles to break even at $4 a gallon

But it would sound cool!

There are members here in Australia and England that have diesel JKs. I'm sure they can pipe in with mpg figures for comparison.

See if there is a diesel co-op in your local. They recycle used cooking oil and convert to basically free fuel. Or if you have the space, you can do this yourself.

Well I'm getting 15 mpg with my gas motor, and they are claiming 27 to30 mpg with the cummins. Oh and 180,000 thousand is no sweat for a diesel.
