2007 Wrangler X 2 Door Leaking Top

Anyone one of YUZ out there have a problem with your top leaking?? Right at the windshield and the top of the door? Drips down on the door handle and then splatters all of the seat and floorboard??? Wondering if its just the 07's that does it...

saltman 03-17-2009 12:04 PM

No it's pretty much every JK. Polls here indicate 1 in 2 is defective. Occurs pretty consistently from the 07 to 09 models. Generally, repair attempts make it much worse.

Good to hear... :naw: My brother n law and I got a roll of some of that "faomy" tape [not duble sided] and stuck a good amount on the part where the top meets the Jeep. It held for about................................... a day... LOL!! Thanks for the feed back. Thats why I got the Quadratec mats and they keep the water from getting to the carpet. Sure can stink up the Jeep in the hot humid summers here!!:ukliam2:

I removed the carpet the first week I had it. I like to run like that anyway. I plan on getting some nice seat covers and dealing with it. I might try out that Mopar rubber floor liner.

Mine was bad so took it to the dealer and they said I was not closing the top correctly  and advised to put silicon on all the rubber parts at least twice a year. Since taking there it has not leaked but I have not removed the top yet so don't know if it will start leaking again after I do.

Same problem for me. That's why I sold my Mopar soft top last Summer, and I bought the Bestop Supertop; not perfect, but much better concerning water leaking.

The problem is the position of the sport bars. You can adjust the sport bars to put them closer to the door gaskets. Same thing for the windshield. I wanted to make a write-up, but I'm not good enough in English...

windshield is probably a tad out of adjustment, mine leaked when i got it, hasn't leaked now for a year.
Loosen widshield bolts, leave doors open, loosen bolts above headrestsand pull windshield back, it won't go far but it was enough to tighten up the seal.

good luck.

I just got my used '07 2 door w/ a soft top about two weeks ago. It rained for the first week and I didn't have any leaks. Then the sun came out for a few days so I played with the top. Last night I noticed the same leaks that are mentioned here. I just thought I didn't put the top back up correctly. There has to be something that kept it from leaking when I first got it.

My '07 was dry until last week. Only leaks when sitting still.

I'll fiddle around with it when the weather is warmer.

I'm used to leaks.

Had a sunroof in my old dodge truck. Leak

96 Ford Taurus. Trunk leak

Had a new Ford Escort in '82. Leak at front of door.

Drove a Chevy 3500 company truck. Leak at windshield

Glad I don't own a boat.
