rear shock install, what direction? (fox 2.0)

Does it matter what direction the rear shocks go in? i.e. gas tube on bottom with shaft pointing upwards? Or gas tube on top with shaft pointing downwards?

seems like they can go either way, and fox install sheet doesn't mention anything about it.

Any pros and cons of either way?

I inverted the rear shocks on mine, with the shock body on top. Seems to me the body is less likely to be hit and damaged.

Has anyone taken a bump to it? Just wanted to see what other people are running

Always thought nitrogen charged shocks had to be mounted body side up?

rinkishJK 03-06-2013 10:05 AM

The body goes up.

Bar pin up.....? Is there another way....

EzK 03-06-2013 10:10 AM

I'd mount them up for clearance and protection. Isn't the bar pin on the body end anyway?

suds1485 03-06-2013 10:16 AM

I'm not sure but the should only go one way. At least that's what I thought. I haven't installed aftermarket shocks yet just extensions. The reason I say one way is because the mounts are different unless the bracket piece just slides through one of the holes. Or the manufacture makes them specific to the vehicle.

The rubber housing should be down this allows for it hit the rubber harder and save the shock, it also allows the shock to be protected from rocks and debris flying off your tires or when you are out
