C Gusset Install
This may be a stupid question but I was wondering if it is necessary to gusset the rear axle as well as the front.
If so would I just purchase 2 of the off road evo kits? Thanks in advance |
I guess it could never hurt to have more strength in the rear axle but....
Not sure which front you have but the D30s are weaker than the D44 in the rear. Also, the front is where most of the stress is as your wheels turn putting additional stress on the Cs at different approach angles and impact angles, etc, etc. To bend a rear axle would take a heck of a lot more than a front. If I were you I would not even worry about the rear. |
Alright cool, I have the D30.
Thanks for the info.:beer: |
No you cannot gusst a rear axle. The gussets are to reinforce the inner c's which are only on the front axle. However, if you are running 37" or larger tires and want to improve the rear axle you can get a truss for it. Many vendors make Dana 44 trusses and they are around $150, plus labor if you don't know how to weld.
