things arnt going so well, after raising the fuel tank in place, we have just realized that it wont fit... i havent seen the problem personally but im going to go today and have a look... the plastic fuel tank is touching the tranny!! thats not good, i guess ill have to see it to know how to fix it, in the mean time any ideas!!!

Yeah, you can heat it up and push it in. Its not easy, as the tank is fairly thick. You need to drain it completely, and gett he fumes out (use an air hose stuck inside).
You will need to heat it up a fair amount (heat gun may not be enough), and then use a ball peen hammer or the like (round side) to pound it in.
Your other option, which is far easier. Is to trim the pan. You can easily cut that corner down without any real downsides. Have had to do this in other vehicle engine/tranny swaps before.
You may just have to do both.

I think if you used a heat gun http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=66098 [in a very well ventilated area] with proper precautions and a body dolly http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=31277 you could easily "massage" it to a sufficient clearance. Just taking the corner off of the pan may not be enough clearance.
