Default O2 Sensors....

Been having the engine light come off and on for awhile. Decided to check the code. It is:

P0057 O2 Sensor 2/2 heater circuit low.

Here are the codes that are listed in the P00 series:

P0031 - O2 Sensor 1/1 Heater Circuit Low
P0032 - O2 Sensor 1/1 Heater Circuit High
P0037 - O2 Sensor 1/2 Heater Circuit Low
P0038 - O2 Sensor 1/2 Heater Circuit High
P0051 - O2 Sensor 2/1 Heater Circuit Low
P0052 - O2 Sensor 2/1 Heater Circuit High
P0057 - O2 Sensor 2/2 Heater Circuit Low
P0058 - O2 Sensor 2/2 Heater Circuit High

I found out now that these are the O2 sensors on the exhaust. There are a couple up high, just below the manifold and a couple down low after the cat. There may be a couple more in front of the cat as well, but I didn't see them. By looking at these codes, does anybody know how a guy can tell which sensor is where?

Thanks.....

Clear the codes and lift sensor lead one at a time

The sensors are numbered according to the cylinder bank, and their location relative to the cats.

All four of them are present in your list of codes.

I'll look up the locations in the service manual, and post them, unless someone does it first.

Edit to add...

According to the service manual:
1/1 = right bank, just ahead of the cat.
1/2 = right bank, in the cat.
2/1 = left bank, just ahead of the cat.
2/2 = left bank, in the cat.

I looked on mine, and there is one in the upstream end of each cat, and one after each cat.
I assume the bank numbers are correct, though.

Hey thanks guys.....appreciate it. What happens when these things fail, as the check engine light does go off for awhile but then comes back on. Do they get too much carbon buildup? Can I try and clean it first before replacing it? How spendy are they?
Thanks again.....

I have had o2 codes on my wifes JK. It ended up being multiple problems. Cracked exhaust mfld, passengers side o2 sensor wires rubbing on fire wall. This all ended up with plugged cats.

good luck

Its a heater circuit fault. something is making that oxygen sensor take too long to start swinging and reading properly due to heat. Since its an after cat, I'd tend to say it's the sensor itself versus anything else. That would be my first guesstimation. The after cat isn't worried about the mixture like the pre-cat sensor, it is checking the efficiency of the cat by means of a lower, but similar reading compared to it's precat sensor..
