Oil change info.
This might sound fairly ridiculous. However, when I bought my jk used this summer there was not owner manual or anything in the glove box.
I was wondering, when the dealer did the first oil change for me the day I bought it. They put a 3 month 3 thousand mile sticker in the windshield. It 2 months past the date but is still 100 miles shy of it's mileage requirement. Should jeeps be changed every three months or every 3,000 miles? Or whichever comes first?

to be honest that is a situational based question, it all varies on driving style and driving conditions. Personally i change every three thousand miles, i live very close to work and sometimes i ride the bicycle to work so i usually hit the three month marker before i do the three thousand miles. This is what i say ( my ) if you do a lot of highway driving then i say every three months but if you do a considerable amount of city driving then every three miles. Every person has a different method to their maddnes, some people just wait till the oil change icon pops on their dash others ignore it because they use synthetic oil and get about five thousand miles out of the oil. So again it all depends on your situation and how you drive.

I essentially only do around town driving. So I am going to g with the 3,000 mile idea. Seeing as I never reach enough miles in 3 months to need to change it.
Thanks so much,
Sean

sringer, my Jeep manual says this:
However changing at 3000 miles is fine if not better
When I used regular dyno oil I changed every 3K
but now I use synthetic and change it every 5K
NOTE: Under no circumstances should oil change
intervals exceed 6,000 miles (10 000 km) or six months,
whichever occurs first.

At least oil changes with the JK are pretty darn easy too. I suggest you check out the Project JK write up section. Some pretty good write ups have been made on changing some very important fluids. I don't have much experience with that stuff and they were extremely helpful! Have fun!
