Are you guys 100% its not the gear knob?

Ours did the same thing from day one.
Our tranny was replaced due to popping out from 1st gear at 700km's on the clock.
In 3rd gear I got the same thing.
Tranny was replaced and in 3rd gear it did it again.

I pulled the gear knob off and placed a 3cm x 3cm piece of cloth on the stick and placed the gear knob over it. 13months later no probs.

Default I have the same rattle in 3rd and 4th

I've got the same rattle in 3rd and 4th, gonna try the gear knob thing but I agree that it definitely seems to be coming from the tranny itself.

2011 JK, rattle started at 9800 miles.

Mine started doing this a while ago as well. With only 1,900 on the odo. I think its the knob. If I squeeze on the knob it goes away for the most part. Mine mostly happens in 4th and some in 3rd.

I have the same thing in third and fourth only. It's more annoying than anything because the vehicle is new. I only have 900 miles on it. It is a 2012. If anyone gets any results please respond. In a way I hope it gets worse so it can get fixed. The dealer tole me it was fine and I know it's not. I have owned many stick vehicles and even older jeeps. Granny's should not be having the problems like these jeeps are. Chrysler needs to step up and fix this!!!!!!!!!!!

I just replaced all fluids with amsoil synthetic and it is quiet as a mouse. trans was a little low on fluid and book calls for 1.6 quarts but it takes 2 before fluid comes out fill hole. Noise was driving me crazy. Wasn't real bad but I noticed it. Mainly in 3rd and 4th. Thanks to amsoil it sounds great now. I then replaced all fluids with Amsoil.

I filled to fill holes. I used synthetic fluids. Synchromesh. Everything runs a lot quieter now and smoother. Also changed transfer case front diff and rear diff. ATF synthetic in transfer case and 80w90 front and rear diff synthetic as well
