time to replace the stock rubi tires, 36k miles and still at about 50% tread.
debating between the new mt/r or the km2 in 35...
what is the life expectancy on the new version of the mt/r with kevlar?
do they flat spot as bad as the old MT/R

I have heard of MT/R-Ks lasting a long time. I purchased them because the siping was important to me. They are a great tire and are extremely quiet on the road.

the sipping is a selling point to me as well, plus jp mag said they are substantially lighter than all other 35's.
Lots of ice and snow here in north idaho, my stock rubi tires do great except they do tend to slide when stopping on ice sheets.

Im going toyo next time. I think the load range c on these is contributing to some of the problems. They are difficult to balance, but that is expected on large tires.

i got 35x12.50x17 km2's i love them!

I had my tire shop sipe them for me. They arnt studded but they are amazing compared to the stock bridgestone duelers i had on there. I love these tires! They work amazingly on ice and snow, not to mention how amazing they are on the trail. They will be lighter than the mt/r because they run small so it will be about a 33.5 not a true 35. They are super quiet too.

I voted MTR-K with my wallet. Larger tire, lighter weight, no regrets!

Plus, my son really likes them too...

Which tires are difficult to balance? I own MT/R-k's in a 38 and each tire took less than 4oz of weights to balance. I'd check the rim if something won't balance, or talk to the installer about some training.

I've also run Toyo's and they are an excellent tire. They balanced on my Walker Evans Beadlocks with zero weights on 2 of the rims! THAT is a well built tire!

KM2 vs MT/R-k. The KM2 will last longer, but the MT/R-k is much better tire. Better all around. Better in the snow, better on rocks (especially on wet rocks).

I have a direct email from bfg and true size is 34.8 at 66.24 lbs for 35x12.5x17.

I have another email from Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar 35x12.5x17 OD = 34.8 weight 65.49

So basically the same!
