Smittybilt xrc10 w/ synthetic line hands down. I used to work for Ramsey winch out if college. Smitty is a really nice winch and low cost considering others out there.

I had the smittybilt xrc8 for about a year. Ended up giving it away for parts. I didn't have any luck with it :(
Replaced it with the waterproof Recon 10.5k with synthetic line for $500. I am very happy with this one!!

I had an XRC8 on my 2007 Sahara, and after a year in the Florida weather I could see a lot of rust in the internal gears. There is a small hole on the housing and evidently moisture gets in there and corrodes the gears.
The next winch I buy for my 2011 will be waterproof. Thinking I may try the X2O, but will wait for others to get it and see how it does first. I had a Superwinch EPI9.0 on my TJ for 3 years and it held up great. May go that way, but would love to save some bucks and get the X2O if it proves itself worthy. From what I have been reading, the Recon is another good choice I am considering.

Ive had my Warn for around 12 years now. It got my old Jeep out of a few very bad situations. Havent needed it yet for the JK but Im sure it will work fine. Im sure there are plenty of other options out there for similar or less money and as good or better quality but If this one does eventually die Im pretty sure it will be replaced with the equivelent model "modern" Warn.
