Your right! still,
We need to remember that the "The Jeep MAX towing capacity" is only if the driver is 150lb, that's drive a stock optionless Jeep and has NO passengers.
Having her Jeep as light as possible will help her actual towing capacity get close to the MAX towing capacity that her Jeep can tow.

I am thinking about making a chart, with all the Jeep trim levels.
Do you have a towing package? that will make a big difference.

I can't find a reliable source for the "Gross vehicle weight rating" (for each trim level),
So I will need the forum members help, I have open a thread just for that:
What is your Gross vehicle weight?

Please take part in the effort of creating that chart.
Thanks!

It's not just trim level. There are many combinations of springs available that don't seem to be associated with a trim package.
GVWR is best documented on each vehicle's data sticker.

Reducing the weight of the Jeep will increase the towable weight limit, if the actual weight of the Jeep plus the weight of the tow exceeds the GCVW.

I made this post in another thread. Is shows how the Jeep weight relates to the towing capacity:

"Only two things matter:

1. The actual weighed weight of your Jeep.

2. The GCVW rating of your Jeep.

Subtract #1 from #2.

If the result is less than the Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) for your model, then use the result as your GTW limit.

If the result is equal or more than the GTW for your model, use the GTW as your towable weight limit.

Knowing the door sticker rating is not much help because it doesn't account for driver, passenger, tools, bumpers, and other mods. These can all subtract from the GTW if the the actual weight plus GTW exceeds the GCVW rating.

For example, an earlier post showed a 2 door Sport/X auto with actual weight of around 4350 pounds. The book shows a GCVW of ~6100 pounds and a GTW of 2000 pounds for that model. But 4350 plus 2000 is 6350 which is 250 over the GCVW rating, so the maximum trailer weight in this case is around 1750 pounds.

All the "table data" on the planet won't get you to a GTW value unless you know the actual weight of your Jeep the way you drive it."

Your forgetting the most important element of towing... The operator, if you dont have the expirience to tow to the capacity of your vehicle, then you shouldnt. Just because your vic can handle it, doesnt mean that you can.

You have to be a pretty huge bag of hammers to not be able to tow something to a vehicles capacity...especially with todays vehicles...
