Default Replacing tires for daily driver

I searched but didn't find many recommendations on daily driver tires. So here we go...

On my just purchased 2009 JKU X, it came with 18'' OEM rims (from a Sahara I guess) with Hankook DYNAPRO MT RT03 LT275/65R18. The spare is a OEM 17'' tire and wheel . I need to replace the rear tires ($530 best price) because the jackass before me never rotated them. This is my daily driver and these tires are a bit loud for my 30 mile interstate commute. I will on occasion get it in the woods but nothing extreme. Do I spend $530 and keep these RT03's, or sell the two good ones and get 4 of something else altogether? If so, what?

Then I still need to sell the spare and match it.

Love the forum btw, glad to be here.

I would sell your tires and go and buy 15" wheels and tires. Tires are much cheaper for a 15" wheel

Nitro terra grapplers are good on road and great offroad. Call or pm the discount tire rep! They'll hook you up faulkens would be a good choice as well.

Why would you put 15's on a daily driver? That is not a good option for general handling on the street. I would just stuck with a 17" or 18". Your cheapest option will be to replace the rear tires for now. Otherwise you are looking at 4 wheels and tires, which will cost much more than the $500 to replace the rears...

I roll on 15's on my daily driver. No issues with them.

If you're not happy with the current tires, bite the bullet and get a full set you like. I'm betting if you only replace the 2 bad tires, you'll be making the same decision soon on the other 2 tires and you'll still have a noisy tire.

check out the Falken WildPeak - great on road manners and off-road they do really well

DT has them listed as Rocky Mountain.

Bet you can find a set of stock 17" wheels for a great price as well, then you'll have a full set + useable spare

Never said issues, they don't handle as well on road as a 17 or 18. I have run 15's and there is a difference

Yeah understandable. I like my 15's for now. Once I step up to 35's one day though, would probably prefer something in a 17 rim. Have a buddy with 17" and 35 tires and does feel alittle more stable on the street.

Thanks for the ideas, I do like that your two suggestions are cheaper!

I'm running 315/75R16 BFGoodrich ATs and love them. I have had the KM2s, Nitto Terra Grapplers, and Toyo Open Country MTs, the BFG ATs are definitely the most comfortable and best driving of the tires I have run. Stick with an AT tire for daily driving. I know they don't look as cool as a MT tire but they are much nicer to live with everyday .
