98 xj doesn't crank over first shot.
My 98 cherokee doesn't crank over first try, sometimes it takes up to 5-6 trys. Replaced the battery and cleaned the terminal cords last night. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem at all.

When it doesnt start do you got à puls on your starter engine. If you dont have à puls try to swap your relay with your Horn relay THE problem could also be your electrick ignition lock

A little bit such as 5 seconds? Mine has done the same for 60,000 miles or so. Someone once told me it was the crank sensor and that it can take an entire revolution or so of the crank for the computer to realize where the crank is prior to firing. Not sure if that is true, but makes sense to me. Also, it could be a fuel pressure issue (maybe just a filter?) I wouldn't be too concerned right now if i were you, I have been driving mine like this since i owned it and my friends ZJ is the same way.

Start with checking the fuel filter. Try removing it and blowing through it. If it is hard to blow through, I've seen this cause issues with starting. Next, progress to checking the ignition system (e.g. plugs, wires, cap, etc.). The problem is likely in there somewhere!

yeah its back by the rear drivers side tire mounted on the frame. Its about 5 inches long and about 2 inches in diamiter. Just so you know make sure you release the pressure on the fuel line, there's a valve on the fuel rail where the injectors are located on the engine its just like a tire valve.
