Its actually too bad to see this happen to "The Shack". I remember when I was young, one of our neighbors who was about 10 years older than me managed the local Radio Shack. What a neat place to go. There were always three people in the store to help you and "you got questions, we got answers" was actually fairly true. Now there is generally only one person there and they don't know jack. The thing I really miss the most about what they have become is not seeing all the new and cutting edge gadgets they had. If they would have positioned themselves properly, they could have dominated the electronics and service part market. Now its Newark, Digikey, or Fry's for me. They had some good stuff too...My HTX-202 is still going strong after 22 years (its a 1990 if memory serves me correct), three internal memory batteries, one bnc antenna connector, I lost count of battery repacks, and numerous pavement drops later! She ain't pretty, but she still works great and I will bet you a dollar it will outlast that newer VX-8R I got--and I use the 202 twice as much! I will say, I had a glimmer of hope after going to the Brighton, MI store. I saw a whole display of electronics kits! and also saw a couple in stock scanners, coax jumpers, rf adapters, an swr meter, and Cb antennas - IN STOCK. They even had an antenna that would have worked on that old 202! Maybe there is hope? I had all but given up, but may stop back and buy a couple of those kits for the kids...

On a note of reality, sadly, I have had better luck with antenna parts/coax at the Pilot Truck stops. Always good in an emergency!

I was quite surprised with the stock at my local Radio Shack, of course it's the only one in the entire county of Tooele. They had a reasonable amount of CB stuff. To be fair, it's 1970's technology.

They did have the 40A 14V fog light relay I was looking for.
